Like many others, one of the first symptoms I noticed was heat intolerance. Born and raised in New England, adjusting to the Florida heat was difficult for me at first. However, suddenly in my third year of Florida life, I couldn't handle the heat anymore. Alas, Graves disease.
I was treated with RAI more than a year ago and have been on Synthroid since last summer, but my heat intolerance has never subsided, even when I was hypo for a short time (in the dead of a South Florida summer, mind you).
I am seeing my new endocrinologist next month now that I've settled back in New England so I plan to ask her about this. Today is a record 90 degrees, and everyone is loving it. Except me. I went outside at lunchtime and felt awful. I came back in beat red, sweaty, slightly dizzy and sluggish. This is how I felt every single day in Florida and I was hoping that it was just because it was crazy Florida heat. Apparently, it's me. Prior to Graves, I was the girl who was cold all the time.
Has anyone else experienced a seemingly permanent heat intolerance even after otherwise successful treatment?
